Kash n' Karry

Kash n' Karry
****

This month I decided to forgo my quest for a better dining out café and try a new supermarket for some interesting tastes to tickle the palate . We headed down US 27 to the old Kash n’ Karry supermarket. What a delightful surprise to see a great makeover with vibrant new colors, new names and new products. We entered through the fresh fruits and vegetables, and what a variety of wonderful products and reasonably priced. Every corner was a little stand with samples of different type foods to taste and we found that a lot of it we had never tried and will put some of these products on our list of interesting tastes. If you have ever been on the lookout for specialty foods or seasonings, and have not had any luck in the Sebring area, be sure and scout out this new market.

They have their sister store up in Maine and what a marvelous fish and meat counter. We could not pass up the huge prawns that look so delicious, but we had some more shopping to do and felt we could not carry these around in the car and keep them fresh. The pleasant lady behind the counter, said do not worry, we always double wrap and put in a big ice pack with all our fresh fish. So we gave in and ordered a half of pound , which gave us 26 large prawns for $4.85 which we felt was a bargain. We also bought a container of cocktail sauce with extra horseradish. The label was Sau.Sea distributed out of Tarrytown, N.Y. It was extra tasty and not too hot. We could hardly wait to get home and dig in. At the checkout counter, the Bag man immediately took all the cold items and double bagged with heavy paper sacks to keep it cool and fresh. We purchased a few other items and found out that we paid less then at Albertsons or Publix. Be sure and try this new supermarket, I am sure you will be as impressed as we were.
