COUPLES BRIDGE DINNER AND CARDS

On March 31st Pat and Harold Smith hosted the Thursday Evening Couples Bridge group to a dinner and evening of Bridge at their home. This has become an annual event at which time well wishes are extended to those couples returning north for the summer. Everyone enjoyed the wonderful meal and the spirited card playing that followed.

High scores for the evening went to the team of Laila Jones and Harriet Lonstein and runners up were Dick & Sue Kirby. All interested resident Bridge players are welcome to play on Thursdays at 7:00 PM in the Library. Contact Harold or Pat Smith at 471-3902 for additional information.

TANGLEWOOD FISHING CONTEST

Trying To Catch The Big One

Fishing contest didn't net any "tagged fish" winners but other fish were caught. 7 Bass were caught that day but the majority of fisher-persons were using artificial bait and light gear. The fish with the number #1 tag weights 10 lbs. And 10 oz. From my Florida Room I watch persons fishing daily and talking to one gal, she stated she has "caught a fish twice with the number #6 still on it". It's been caught 3 times for sure now.

We'll work out another fishing contest this summer and maybe have some winners. Watch this newsletter, channel 79, Monday's coffee or the bulletin boards for announcements about it.

ICE CREAM SOCIAL

The ice cream social supplied by Heartland Bank on April 20 th drew about 350 residents to the hall after the TMAC meeting. They had a drawing for prizes and paid for the ice cream. They are celebrating the announcement of their new bank, that opened in the old mattress store, on the frontage road in north of Frames & Images.

They have purchased land just north of the US 27 entrance to Tanglewood, on the frontage road, and will build a new bank, with a drive through, in the next year or so.

The residents gobbled down about 20 gallons of ice cream and doctored it up with the trimmings. I think the summer committee has one planned for later this summer and I'm sure it will be a real success.

HENSCRATCH FARMS TRIP

"The Special Activities Committee" inaugurated the summer with a trip to Henscratch Farms in Lake Placid.  Thirty-two people got the deluxe tour of the U-Pick farm and winery.  We got to pick and munch the last of the season's strawberries and the first of the blueberries.  Included was a look inside a working winery, wine sampling, a gourmet luncheon, and a trip to the gift shop.

Many of us will be back soon for more berries and maybe some free range eggs from their flocks of hens.   A word to the wise - you'll want a hat and sunglasses.  Stay informed of the summer's fun by coming to Monday Morning coffees and reading your Tanglewood Internet newsletters.
