SHUFFLEBOARD – DAVE PURSER

The winter schedule is as follows:
Sundays - Open shuffling
Mondays - after coffee and at 2 P.M. - Doubles format
Tuesdays - 9 AM and 2 PM - Hoss collar competition
Wednesdays - 9 AM and 2 PM - Singles
Thursdays - 9 AM and 2 PM - Hoss collar

The Tanglewood shuffleboard group held its first intra-park tournament on November 18, 2006. The weather was crisp; but by the end of the first match, the layers of clothing were beginning to disappear as the glorious sun began to warm the courts. There were 31 participants that enjoyed the beautiful morning and the great competition with their friends. By eleven o'clock, Dave was busy with the calculator determining the winners. The results were as follows:

First Place - Roger Hardiek
Second Place - Christina Van-Erve
Third Place - Rosemarie Wolf
Fourth Place - Roscoe Burnett
Fifth Place - Doug Scholl
Sixth Place - Bill Lynch
Seventh Place - Clarence Lamore
Eighth Place - Betty Schleis

Dave wants to express his "THANKS" to the Breakfast Committee for letting the Shufflers that held "Breakfast Tickets" go to the head of the line for their food. "It is this kind of cooperation that makes Tanglewood a wonderful place to live."

Our next Single-Mingle Tournament is scheduled for December 16th. Contact Dave Purser at 382-4681.

GOLF - BUCK ANDERSON

On Thursday November 16th the Tanglewood Golf Association held a golf scramble at the Sun' N Lake Golf Club. The proceeds from this tournament were donated to the Make A Wish Foundation of Highlands County. We had 112 players whom before playing; purchased draw tickets on the many prizes we had. Larry Lynn did a super great job of selling our tournament to the local merchants. They supported his efforts by donating prizes with a retail value totaling over $3200.00. We also received support in the form of free rounds of golf from the golf courses we play every week. These prizes were given to the tournament winners and the closes to the pin winners.

The first place team consisted of Tom Mapp, Larry Koob, Phil Gallmeier and Peg Myers. Our second place team was Herman Heinen, Gil Roy, Judy O’hora and Dick Myers. Our third place winners were Mike Bloss, Gale Tieder, Bob Korton and Douglas Peterson. We got a little wet, but everybody had a great time.

When it was over and we did the math we had raised just over $3800.00 towards making a wish come true for a special child right here in Highlands County.

Thanks to all the players and a special thanks to all the helpers.

PETANQUE - BOB THULIN

It's time to start thinking about signing up for the December Petanque Tournament, which will be held on December 9th. Entry fee is $5.00 per person. Check-in time is 8:30 AM and starting time is 9:00 AM, with lunch, which is included being served around 11:00 AM.

The day is fun filled and very exciting. Friends compete against each other and rivalries are formed. The courts will be groomed by avid volunteers, YOU can be one. All will be ready. There even is prize money for the winners.

For those who want to look professional there are tee shirts available for both men and women. Balls are also for sale, but if you don't want to make an investment right now, we have extra balls that you can use.

Now to all new residents or those that have not yet experienced play, please come! We want to meet you and to become your friends. That is one of the reasons why you are here, to become involved, to learn and experience new things.
